Young People Take Part in Emergency Response Training at Studio 2
Young people from across Derry took part in a hands-on emergency response simulation at Studio 2, developing practical life-saving skills, confidence and leadership through a unique learning experience delivered by the British Red Cross.
The event formed part of a PEACEPLUS Shared Education project, funded through Derry City and Strabane District Council, bringing together students from Lisneal College, St Mary's College and St Cecilia's College.
Throughout the day, participants worked through realistic emergency scenarios designed to challenge their decision-making, teamwork and communication skills. Guided by British Red Cross facilitators, the young people learned how to remain calm under pressure, assess situations safely, support those in need and respond effectively during a crisis.
The interactive session encouraged students to think critically while building confidence in their ability to make a positive difference within their schools and wider communities. As well as learning practical emergency response techniques, the programme focused on developing resilience, leadership and the importance of helping others when it matters most.
The Shared Education project continues to provide meaningful opportunities for young people from different schools to come together, learn from one another and develop valuable skills through shared experiences.
By combining emergency response training with teamwork and leadership development, the event equipped participants with knowledge and confidence that could one day help protect and save lives.
